Cancer is a disease caused by the irregular or abnormal division of cells in the body. It has been discovered that cancer is caused by different things which have risen from technological advancements which have been mishandled due to negligence or ignorance.

An uproar like cancer has greatly impacted the lives of many to the point a whole day is dedicated to it. February 4, a day you’d normally go to school, work or whatever it may be, cancer patients are given a chance to feel known and understood. The day is set aside to empower people by enlightening them on the different causes, types, symptoms and treatments of cancer in many various countries of the world through the participation of many people from various walks of life in the great involvement of health, governmental, nongovernmental, educational, media institutions in rural and urban areas depending on various situations as the case may be. All in all, the aim is achieved as walks, seminars, outreaches and talks are organized disregarding bias.

Cancer affects male, female, young, old, whoever it may be. The different kinds of cancers are named based on the body part affected. The common types of cancer affecting women include breast, lung, skin, colorectal and uterine. This doesn’t mean they can’t be affected elsewhere.  Millions of women have been diagnosed with breast cancer among other types, some have died while others suffer without knowledge of it. Men being part of it too, they suffer from prostate, skin cancer among others and millions die even without undergoing any form of treatment.

The treatment of cancer has been greatly enhanced by technology. Chemotherapy being a very common technique, various cases have been solved with little to no side effects leading to people living a normal life.

Many have been affected due to genetics so a keen background check goes a long way as a preventive measure. Regular medical check ups, avoiding processed foods, avoiding exposure to UV helps a lot in preventing cancer.

On the good day, February 4 2023, you can simply send a message to a cancer patient you may know, post about cancer awareness or even donate to a cancer support program. It’s the little seeds that we plant today that makes the forest tomorrow.
